‘... from a picturesque country,’ the new exhibition in Salzburg’s Hangar-7, presents the works of ten young artists from Switzerland. One of them, Georgine Ingold, deals with the subject of ‘Heroes.’ Her series of pictures of the same name thematisizes the influence of celebrities on our lives and our perception of reality. In a wordrap the artist interpretes 24 definitions on the topic of art, homeland and self-perception.
Switzerland: Despite everything, a good place to live.
Cliché: Is exciting because you can play with it.
Conflict: There are more than enough.
Idyll: Seldom exists but not never.
Homeland: Yes, where exactly?
Me: Self portrait.
Provocation: Not to let yourself be provoked is the objective.
Abyss: Mountain regions.
Motive: Finding the right motive is almost as difficult as painting a good picture.
Inspiration: Can be anything.
Freedom: I could never work in an office.
Communication: Is very important.
Canvas: Well …
Longing: Hurts and inspires.
Interpretation: What hasn’t been interpreted in my art or in art in general that’s been so far off what was actually intended!
Luck: Would like to have more of it.
Landscape: I like to walk and travel over land.
Emotions: I often find contemporary art too unemotional.
Color: My life’s elixir.
Art scene: Like in every other profession: it’s made up of individuals. It’s only a scene from the outside.
Reality: Yours or mine?
Recipient: Is that who looks at my pictures? Buys them? Hangs them up?
‘... from a picturesque country’: I find almost every country picturesque, except for ... No, you find ‘picturesqueness’ everywhere.
Soccer: Men.
