From Cliffhanger to Heelclicker: In the second part of our four-part series we’ll be showing you some of the most well-known Red Bull X-Fighters tricks – including Cary Hart’s classic “Hart Attack”.
CLIFFHANGER
The riders literally leave the bike, only to have their toes catch the underside of the handlebars. Hands are raised above the head and the rider tries to get as far from the bike as possible.
COFFIN/LAZY BOY
The Coffin is performed by extending the legs out in front of the bike and below the handlebars and lying back on the seat as far as possible. The Lazy Boy is the same trick only the rider lets go of the handlebars and extends the arms back over the head. The further a rider extends the legs and arms, the more points are scored.
CORDOVA
With hands on the grips, riders bring their feet up underneath the bars, press knees to chest, then contort the back to look – upside down – out over the back fender. One of the more bizarre-looking tricks on the circuit.
DEAD BODY
The first part of this trick is the same as the Barhop, but once the Barhop position is reached, the rider straightens his body completely.
FENDER GRAB
The rider bends over the handlebars and grabs the fender with both hands. Maximum points are scored when the rider puts the helmet against the fender and the bike is pointed straight up and down. Riders may also choose to perform a Fender Grab with the back fender.
HART ATTACK
The Hart Attack is named after the Cary Hart, the first rider to do the trick. It’s performed with both legs pointing straight up in the air. One hand is positioned like a hand-stand on the seat while the other holds onto one of the grab holes. If the rider's face is facing backwards then the trick is called Lookback Hart Attack.
HEELCLICKER
The Heel Clicker is where the rider raises the feet above the handlebars, then – with hands still on the grips – the legs are wrapped around the arms and the heels are 'clicked' together above the front fender.
