Motorbike aerobatics meets bullfighting: Madrid is the venue for the ninth Red Bull X-Fighters on September 14. And it is already their fifth visit to Las Ventas – Spain’s largest and most important bullfighting arena.

What Wimbledon is to tennis, Monte Carlo to Formula 1, St Andrews to golf or Kitzbühel to skiing - Madrid is to Freestyle Motocross: the ultimate classic that unites the best athletes, the most atmospheric venue and the greatest media spectacle in a single event.

In the Cathedral of Bullfighting

The Cathedral of Bullfighting – that’s what Las Ventas is often called. No bullfighter has really made it until he has swirled his red cape in Spain’s largest and most important arena. But on September 14, exceptionally, it won’t be the toreros calling the shots in Las Ventas. Starting at 9 p.m., the world’s ten best freestylers will meet here, to shoot off ramps into the air on their motocross bikes and perform the most unbelievable tricks.

23.000 Freestyle aficionados will transform the event into a, well not quite, traditional corrida: in addition to the typical drum rolls, the characteristic trumpet fanfares and the wild waving of white handkerchiefs, the FMX fans will contribute to the inimitable atmosphere with chanting and chain saw motors on the Las Venta stands.

The Champions League of FMX

“Mad” Mike Jones, Edgar Torronteras, Kenny Bartram, Travis Pastrana, Nate Adams and most recently Mat Rebeaud: over the past five years, only the very best in the FMX scene have prevailed at the Red Bull X-Fighters. On September 14, favorites Travis Pastrana, Nate Adams and Mat Rebeaud are aiming to make their audience forget the toreros in the historic arena. For one night at least they are sure to succeed.
